Welcome to Relay! Here's what you need to know.
Thank you for participating in Relay’s closed Beta! It’s a huge help towards getting Relay out into the world.
Have questions that need answers? Please email firstname.lastname@example.org, we’ll get back to you ASAP.
How does Relay work?
With Relay, you have the option to replace your current 2FA phone number with a Relay number. You can connect multiple trusted phone numbers to your Relay number. This means that whenever a 2FA code is sent to your Relay number, it will be forwarded to all the linked phone numbers, ensuring that all trusted parties will have access to your 2FA codes.
What is a Closed Beta?
We have restricted our Closed Beta to only 50 trusted participants. These participants will have access to a nearly complete version of Relay to use as they see fit. We collect only essential information, such as how many text messages have been sent and what service tags you’ve used. We provide open channels of communication for participants to share their feedback with us, channels include Google Sheets, email, as well as a web submission form.
When does the beta start and how long does it last?
The beta will begin between March 5th and 10th and will run for six weeks, ending on April 10th.
What does the Relay Team hope to learn from the Closed Beta?
Product Market Fit: How frequently are people using Relay, and how much are they willing to pay for the service?
Bug Testing: Does Relay function perfectly, or are there any issues that need addressing?
Testimonials and User Feedback: We are keen to gather feedback on what participants liked and disliked, and any improvements they think we could make to the product.
Please Note: We will ask your permission to use any feedback as testimonials in Marketing material.
How does the beta process work?
We send you sign-in credentials to your email address
You add your phone numbers and start using Relay
You can provide feedback via: Google Sheets, email, or a web submission form
Once a week we will email participants, asking for feedback on your experience
Once the beta is complete, we will send a final survey and a $10 gift card to the place of your choice.
This closed beta does not require any credit card information.
What are Relay’s limitations right now?
Relay’s close to being finished but there’s some functionality we’ve either turned off for the Beta or working on in the background. So what can’t you do with Relay currently?
Create your own Relay phone number: We’ve created a Relay phone number for you, if you need an additional Relay number please let us know by emailing us at email@example.com
Add Billing information: For you, Relay’s free! No need for billing info.
What should I NEVER do with Relay?
There are a couple things we ask you to please not do with Relay as they will cause us big issues!
Please don’t forward Relays to emergency phone numbers
9-1-1 doesn’t need anyone’s 2FA codes!
Please don’t forward messages to your own Relay number
Loops are costly!
We’re working on ensuring these loop-holes are closed but for now we know you all have good-sense!
What happens after the Beta is over?
After the beta is over, we will be closing Relay for one month in order to make software updates. Unfortunately, during this period, Relay will be unable to send 2FA codes, meaning that you will have to revert 2FA phone numbers back to the product owner’s original number. We’re sorry about this inconvenience, and will provide you with plenty of notice and time to make the switch.
